St Alban's Catholic Primary School

At St. Alban's, each KS2 class has one French lesson each week covering the four main language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. Each lesson is delivered through fun, engagging presentations which include native French voices and children have lots of opportunities to practise speaking the target language. Phonics is a core elemenent of the scheme and each year group will focus on a set of key French phonemes.

 Children in Key Stage 1 are introduced to French through songs and games, classroom instructions and prasie, counting and learning basic colours. They also practise making the Sign of the Cross in French. We follow the online scheme provided by Language Angels which is based on guidance set out in the 2014 National Currculum.
