Modern Foregin Languages-French
Subject Leader:Mrs Bloomer
In St. Alban's children are taught French. Lessons in Key Stage 2 begin with lots of receptive practise which includes learning the vocabulary through listening and reading activities first.Children then move on to producing the language themselves through speaking and writing activities. French lessons are fun, interactive and oten energetic, we play lots of games, sing songs and use actions to support our learning. Children use a sentence builder for each unit which contains all the vocabulary they will need for that topic.By the end of the unit children should feel confident speaking in full sentences because they have spent lots of time recieving and producing the vocabulary.
Phonics is explicitly taught so that children understand the different phonemes and graphems in the french language. They learn techniques to help them produce the sounds correclty and then blend them together inside words.
