· Produce creative work, exploring their ideas and recording their experiences.
· Become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques.
· Evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design.
· Know about great artists, craft makers and designers, and understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms.
Y5 Created some amazing scultpures using a variety of materials. The children took inspiration from the work of Nigerian sculptor Sokari Douglas Camp, whose work is influnced by her Kalabari hertitage.
KS1 and KS2 all took part in a Quentin Blake drawing masterclass as part of the Children's University. The children were able to draw facial features in the style of Quentin Blake, and then used what they had practised to create their very own character. The children produced some amazing drawings and learnt lots of new skills. In addition to this all the children that took part earned 1 credit with the Children's University!
One of Reception's art topics is weaving, using the work of Ulrike Martin for inspiration.
First the children explored weaving independently in the provision. Next, they worked with an adult to weave using either wool, paper or ribbon.
The children used their newly aquired weaving skills to make Valentine's Day cards.
